A board for your neighborhood. What’s needed, what’s on offer — private to your local group. No endless feed from a distant company.
How do you want to start?
Great — your organizer usually gives you a desktop app or a link to this site. Tap Open the board, choose a nickname, and follow what they sent you (the desktop app often fills in the rest automatically).
Browse without joining: you can open the board and try the demo. To post for real, someone in your area needs to run a small neighborhood node (or you can learn how below). It’s simpler than it sounds — but it does take a host.
Posts and chats stay in your group’s network, not on a central company server. Your organizer runs the bit that keeps everyone in sync. If you use the website, they may give you an extra step the first time; the desktop app usually keeps more on your device.
1. Open Board. 2. Connect once. 3. Post or read. 4. Chat when someone helps. No buzzes from us — check the board when you can.
Doorstep is a small neighborhood help board. You and your group are on the same network — not the whole internet.
Your nickname and posts go to people in your group’s network. There is no big-company “for you” feed. If you use the website, your organizer may give you a link and a short code to paste — only if they said so.
Urgent in the app is not 911. Real emergency → call your local emergency number. Meet strangers in safe, public places when you can. Problems in the group → talk to your organizer.
Get the app — install files for neighbors and hosts. For organizers — short host overview and link to the full checklist on the install page. Holochain.
Helping people near you. Your data stays with you and neighbors — not a corporation.
Desktop app — you’re already in the right place. Pick a nickname and tap Connect as me. You can ignore the extra fields unless your organizer asked you to use them.
Try shared demo = look around on a shared practice board. Connect as me = your real group — desktop app or what your organizer sent.
Join with email (when your group offers it): one-time sign-up, confirm the link, then this site can remember you when you come back — same idea as other sites, without extra jargon.
New phone or cleared browser? Use Email me a new link, open the message, then tap I’ve confirmed my email — continue.
Your own pilot account (separate from the shared demo) isn’t activated on this build yet — use Try shared demo below. We’ll turn on per-person tickets when the cohort is ready.
Extra backup (optional): after connecting, you can save a small file below — like a spare house key. Prefer email sign-in when your group offers it. If you use two devices at once, things can get out of sync; one device at a time is simpler. Anyone with the backup file can act as you.
New? Missing code → ask your organizer, or Try shared demo. After Connect works, the ID boxes fill in by themselves. Home still has a fake board to click around.
Disconnected? Internet blip or nap mode — tap Retry here or Board & Retry on the yellow bar. Nickname usually stays.

Connect, then open a card from the board. Chats, “done,” and thank-yous save in your app on your device.
Either person can tap the button when it’s time.
